The extremely compact design and sleek silver finish of G2000 incorporates original Canon features such as 22x optical zoom, FlexiZone AE/AF, custom keys and a Time Base Corrector System (TBC) along side new features: Dual Auto Phase Control (APC) and Y/C Enhancer. The G2000 is the affordable new 8mm model incorporating a host of features ideal for first time camcorder users.

High Quality Playback
In order for users to gain the best quality playback from their recordings Canon has added several features to the new 'G' series camcorders. The Y/C enhancer provides sharper colour resolution and improved edge response whilst Dual-APC allows horizontal colour fluctuation to be significantly reduced. Combine this with Canon's Time Base Corrector (TBC) system and the user also has a G series model which smoothly handles quick changes in picture contrast when playing back the picture eliminating any signs of jitter.

FlexiZone AE/AF
Canon's unique FlexiZone Control is also incorporated within the new G2000 camcorder and enables the point of focus and exposure to be positioned anywhere within the frame by simply moving the autofocus window in the viewfinder. So wherever the subject lies within the frame - even if it's moving - sharp focus is always maintained.

The exposure level can be locked by simply pressing the FlexiZone controller so that the user's thumb can stay on the controller to keep track of any moving object that must remain in focus.

Program AE mode
A simple dial gives access to six exposure program modes, guaranteeing the best result in every situation. The 'auto' mode will handle most general subjects, giving excellent results under most conditions. In addition to FlexiZone, other AE modes are Sports, Portrait, Sand and Snow and Spotlight modes.

The "Spotlight" mode is for bright subjects against dark backgrounds and avoids over-exposure, which might otherwise occur. The 'Sand and Snow' mode avoids under exposure often seen when shooting subjects against very bright backgrounds. Also featured is 'Sports' mode which selects a fast shutter speed and 'Portrait' mode that blurs the background, thus making the main subject more prominent.

Custom Keys
The keys most frequently used whilst shooting vary from person to person, yet it is not possible to make every button equally accessible. However, the G2000 features the widely acclaimed "customs keys" feature unique to Canon camcorders. This allows the user to activate their preferred functions at a press of a button found on the side of the camcorders.

Any of six functions on the G2000 can be assigned to these keys, enabling users to customise the camcorder for their own requirements. This will prevent the frustration of searching for the right key, or ruining recordings by pressing the wrong key. Functions that can be assigned to the custom keys include Digital Effect Select and ON/OFF, Title, Date, Fade and BLC.

Digital Effects
With their array of digital functions, Canon's new camcorders become an extension of their users' imagination. The effects available for the G2000 are Art, B/W, Sepia*, Negative, Mirror, Mosaic, 16:9*, and Cinema.

113,000-pixel Viewfinder
The G2000 camcorder features a high-resolution black and white viewfinder. The bright LCD measures 0.44 inch and is easy to see even in bright conditions making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor shooting.

Lithium ion battery
G2000 uses a lithium ion battery system that provides substantially greater battery life than the Ni-Cd system. With the use of the optional BP-945 battery the recording time is maximised, enabling the G2000 to record for up to 8 hours without recharging.
