EOS 30 / EOS 33
EOS 30/33

The EOS 30 and EOS 33 have been designed to make it easier for you to become a better photographer. It's obvious when you consider the features they offer: the ergonomic aluminium body, the 4 fps shooting speed with near silent film transport, the amazingly easy to use controls and the use of state-of-the-art technology throughout.

You'll find both cameras offer the perfect blend of innovation and grass roots photographic know-how. With a large selection of pre-programmed modes built into the camera, 7-point Area AF, Eye control*, 35 zone evaluative metering, a full specification viewfinder, multiple exposure modes and 13 custom functions, it's easy to see how the EOS 30 and EOS 33 can make a big difference to your photography.

Technologies working in harmony

The Canon metering and focusing systems are remarkable on their own. But when combined they become extremely powerful tools. Canon calls it 'AIM'-Advanced Integrated Multipoint control. The principle is simple. The metering follows the focusing so that the main subject is always correctly exposed. If the subject is to the left of the frame, that is where the reading is taken. Flash metering is linked to the system too, giving optimum exposure indoors and out.

Quality and innovation are at the heart of every product in the EOS system. Take the virtually noiseless film transport of the EOS 30 and EOS 33, combine this with an Ultra Sonic Motor (USM) lens, which also offers extremely low noise levels. You'll get unrivalled focusing speeds and a system that makes virtually no operational noise. A good example of EOS thinking, and a good example of technology working with the photographer.

One-shot Autofocus

This mode ensures every shot is in perfect focus. The lens pulls focus on the subject then locks. If the camera can't detect a subject, it doesn't take the picture.

Artificial Intelligence

Activating AI autofocus lets the camera decide the ideal focusing mode. One-shot Autofocus is chosen initially but if movement is detected, the camera automatically switches to Predictive Autofocus.

Predictive Autofocus

When you select the Predictive AF with AI Servo mode, the camera automatically tracks the subject with speed and accuracy, calculating where the subject will be at the exact moment of exposure.

Eye control

In addition to the advanced features included in both the EOS 30 and EOS 33,the EOS 30 offers you Eye Control. This takes advantage of your greatest asset as a photographer, your eyes. When you compose a picture your eye is naturally drawn to the focus point, the Eye Control featured in the EOS 30 detects what you are looking at,then using an advanced 32-bit RISC microprocessor calculates focus with amazing speed and accuracy. As your eye moves, so does the focus point. The advantage? You can concentrate on creativity.

The perfect exposure

The EOS 30 and EOS 33 come equipped with three separate metering modes. Partial metering that reads from a small area, Centre-Weighted metering that takes an average reading of the whole scene with a bias towards the centre, and Evaluative metering that takes an average reading of the whole scene from the 35 metering zones.

The built-in computer takes these readings and compares them against a library of typical scenes to calculate exposure. This is particularly evident when presented with challenging situations. This two-part system effectively gives you years of professional expertise at your fingertips allowing you be creative with complete confidence.

Special effects

Up to nine exposures can be pre-set and shot at one time or in rapid succession, making this setting perfect for montages, 'ghosting'effects and a range of creative techniques. Integrated flash unit Integrated into the camera is a powerful retractable flash unit that automatically pops up in low light or back-lit conditions.*

It's perfect for fill-in effects outdoors and close up work like portraits indoors. The automatic exposure is TTL, off-the-film, using 3-zone metering linked to the active focusing point, with exposure compensation up to two stops. The unit has been calibrated to work in unison with most of the camera's exposure settings, manual and automatic.
