New Canon EOS 3000V delivers speed, control and flexibility – single-handedlyCanon EOS 3000V is the high-tech yet affordable remains true to the core strengths and values that have made generations of EOS cameras so popular.
The successor to the EOS 3000N now has got an extremely fast auto focus (AF) with a new 32bit microcomputer, AF algorithm and improved AF sequence. The ultra compact, stylish, light-weight and ergonomic design of the EOS 3000V has a tactile solid grip for single-handed, heads-up and intuitive operation. Perfect exposures in very tricky contrast conditions can be accomplished by the 35-zone evaluative metering. An array of practical shooting modes gives the photographer complete control in any shooting situation. A large LCD panel provides the highly visible and instinctive interface between photographer and camera.
The EOS brand continues to live up to its reputation for high quality and performance. The EOS 3000V demonstrates our commitment to continuously develop exceptional products for our customers.
Fast auto focus speed
The EOS 3000V has an improved and extremely fast auto focus speed. By taking into account lens drive and film advance times, predictive focus tracking has also been improved and is now on par with Canon's professional series EOS-1N. The result is fast, accurate focusing on moving subjects – making the EOS 3000V ideal for sporting events.
Ergonomic, cutting-edge design
Canon's engineers have redesigned virtually every aspect of the camera's ergonomics to make the EOS 3000V a seamless and intuitive extension of the photographer's own body.
A large rubber grip allows the surprisingly light body to be gripped with palm and the rest of the fingers, while the freed-up thumb and index finger drop directly onto perfectly positioned key controls, such as AF metering point selection, AE lock and Main Dial. The resulting single-handed, heads-up control keeps the photographer's eye where it needs to be – on the shot. A large 22.4x30mm LCD screen has been moved from the top to the back of the body, providing an exceptionally informative yet easy to use interface.
More metering zones, more focus points
Seven selectable focusing points cross the frame – from top to bottom (3) and left to right (5) – to give an ultra wide AF area – a long way ahead of the 3 AF metering points available in other brands in its class. This will be welcomed by discerning photographers who understand that the best-composed shots often don't have the subject centred. 35 Metering zones virtually cover the full frame. These are combined with an improved evaluation algorithm, which identifies and subsequently rejects particularly bright zones. This lessens the chance of irregular exposures and assures balanced exposure – even in difficult light situations.
Unlimited flexibility, total control
The EOS 3000V goes to the core of the EOS philosophy of putting quality, control and flexibility into the hands of the photographer. As well as standard exposure modes of Program (P), Shutter-priority (Tv), Aperture-priority (Av) and Manual (M), an Auto depth of field (A-Dep) mode has been added. A-Dep measures closest and furthest points in the frame before selecting the best settings for optimum depth of field. The 6 PIC program modes now include Suppressed Flash, next to Portrait, Landscape, Close-up, Sports, Night scene and Full Auto. The continuous shooting speed is possible at 1.5 frames per second and the shutter speeds range from 1/2000th to 30 seconds, as well as bulb exposure. The built-in flash pops up automatically in low light conditions and has been re-designed to sit high above the camera when extended, helping red-eye reduction and lowering the possibility of lens shadow during close up photography.
Accessories and lenses
Optional extras include a battery pack (BP-220) and a semi-hard case (EH15-L). As with all EOS cameras, the EOS 3000V is designed to work with any of the dozens of lenses in Canon's superb EF range. |
